I'd just like to second DQ1's advice.

Having said that, at work, we use Microsoft's System Center Configuration Manager to manage our machines. Even though every machine has at least 16 Gig of RAM, SCCM can still use 100% of the disk bandwidth for several hours when it is first set up.
