Sorry. I genuinely aim not to distort anyone's words and I take you at your word on this.
It's just that when you say we've "been in a bloody mess" to my mind it belittles all the fantastic things the country has done.
As a proud patriotic Brit, perhaps I'm being over-sensitive.
