What do the number of thumbs mean?
I seem to recall seeing something about:
3 meaning "give me more of this and similar"

But on the rest of the scale, what's the difference between 1 and 2, or 1, 2 or 3

The suggestions seem to be getting tuned in fairly well, with a few that I thumb down and delete, and another bundle of "meh".

Does it assume anything from a straight delete, which I usually do if I'm ok with the show but just don't want that episode
