I don't have an issue with sportsmen getting gongs but it shouldn't be simply for being good at it. They are rewarded for that already - well at least in professional sport. The should get honoured if after they leave the lime light they contribute to the sport by volunteering to coach at grass root level or campaigning to improve the sport and access to it.

So Murray should get a knighthood when he gets to say 60 or so and has spent 30 odd years helping get tennis into urban areas, bringing up new players to top standards not (just as) a pro coach but helping push it at lower levels.
