That happens when the program data isn't sufficient to tell if it's new or not so TiVo records it anyway, presumably as a duplicate recording is better than not recording a genuinely new recording.

This happens a lot on kids channels where the programme data seems to be sparse at best. This lack of data can also cause the same episode to recording in the morning and and night as there's not enough data to tell whether a recording of a broadcast has happened in the last 30 days.

FX quite often put what I assume are placeholders in the shedule for 2 weeks in advance and then populate the programme data nearer the broadcase (you'll see lots of entries for the same programme on FX if you look 2 weeks in advance in planned recordings).
