We can only assume that with a non-wireless connection being the preferred option that a built in cable modem was not included for cost reasons either too expensive to include the component or just cheaper to use the unit already being used in other countries.

I don't think it's unreasonable for VM to state the best option.
Hopefully, the installer will be clued up enough to asses the situation and if there is Ethernet near the V6 install point, be sensible enough to use that. If it's wifi, discuss the pros and cons. Maybe even try the wifi but explain that wifi could be unreliable.
Many people seem to use wifi exclusively now, and for them, moving the router shouldn't be a big issue. For us Ethernet purists, with lots of kit in more than one room, moving a router is a big deal.
