To be honest many would state that same comment about their VM broadband connection....and VM are in control, in most situations, of the kit, that can't be an unknown to them.

We can only assume that with a non-wireless connection being the preferred option that a built in cable modem was not included for cost reasons either too expensive to include the component or just cheaper to use the unit already being used in other countries.
