Surely the point is that if you start thinking it's acceptable to behave like that to someone with whom you disagree or for comments with which you disagree then it's going to happen in other cases as well.

I think the whole thing is disproportionate to be honest. She said something which I felt was pretty silly but it's of little consequence. She isn't a politician, she doesn't have power and she isn't really that influential. I find the subsequent level of venom directed at her bemusing as a result. People are far too quick to anger.

A better comparison would be if this was acceptable had it happened to Katie Hopkins whose said far more inflammatory things? If a liberal taxi driver had refused her and any children with her service because she describe migrants as cockroaches?
