I think HBO would make more money renewing their Sky deal.
My guess is that HBO will come to a non-exclusive deal with Sky while launching its content on demand website.

I suppose there could be alternatives. Maybe an exclusive deal with Sky to broadcast the shows on its channels while uploading them on its own subscription website. There are also other possibilities.

The point is, the status quo on these exclusive deals cannot be guaranteed in this fast changing market.
