Electricity is the ideal if the source is renewables rather than fosil fuels like coal and gas.

Unfortunately a LION battery with enough power to go say 300 miles is your basic bomb. Imagine a Note 7 on stearoids and a LION fire only gets worse if you put water on it.

Hydrogen fuel cells with a separate hydride storage cyclinder(s) is much safer IMHO.

Allowing them down a one-way street the wrong way is a disaster in waiting, people entering from side turnings may not look the "wrong way" and pull out infront of them.
