Lidl and Aldi have very minimal massive brands in comparison to major supermarket chains so they're really irrelevant to the argument. I think Lidl sell Pepsi at 25p per can. This is merely the Home Bargains and B&M Scenario.
The outcome is simple.
Poundland isn't as great as people quickly assume. Home Bargains and B&M are great shops if it suits you, there's no denying that, just explained the reasons behind their pricing, they cannot offer the same space and quantity as a supermarket though but I find myself in them quite often.

The thing with the B&M's and Home Bargain's of the world is that it is always a gamble that they will have what you want from one week to the next ,as you said earlier most of their stock is end of line bulk buys or close to expiration date and once that stock has been sold it may take a few weeks or even months to get some back
