Teamviewer will use a little bandwidth itself to deliver the screen, that's what the guy was referring to when he mentioned a small impact.

Interesting. There is no way your work is going to be sharing any access network with your home at that distance, so the problem is either in a router chassis or a backhaul link, or there's coincidentally congestion on both optical nodes.

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping might be useful. As I'm sure you're aware congestion will tend to show up as increased ping and jitter, especially if it's on the backhaul.
