Doesn't sport at a national level start with 5 yr olds learning to swim or run .There are so many of our local facilities gone that it has to wondered where in 10 yrs will the next lot of athletes come from .Swimming pools have closed and even the ones still open are quite a lot of the time only reachable by the closest schools ,more distant schools have to go without .Most schools have sold of the playing fields so sports days are just a small gathering running around the playground .The national lottery could be funding swimming pools ,playing fields ,gymnasiums and sports halls a lot more than they are doing taking some of the burden off the local authorities who don't want to fund them anyway .The likes of Bradley Wiggins,Mo Farah ,Jessica Ennis-Hill will never be short of sponsorship .The moment athletes get to a certain level sponsors fall over themselves to sign them up that's when the Lottery should step aside and fund smaller projects that will benefit more people
