Many of the new channel placeholders are for FTA channels already available on Freeview. Remember that VM are now extending their network into new areas, and probably want to sell TV services to new customers. It makes sense to match the lower TV packages to what is available on Freeview. I imagine that it would be difficult to sell the packages to new customers when they discover that their favourite Freeview channels are missing.

It wouldn't make that much sense to VM, there's not much money to be made from adding FTA channels promoting premium rate "chatlines". Although adding addition adult
subscription channels would bring in subscription revenue. It's all just speculation at the moment.
