Re: Military coup in Turkey?
Erdogan has been "doing a Putin". When he had been Prime Minister for the maximum number of times, he effectively made himself President. And then he started moving more and more powers to himself.
The secular state was guaranteed by Turkey's founder Ataturk, with the military its guardians. But any rumour about anyone military considering a coup met with swift imprisonment by Erdogan.
He has shut down any voice against him: the media, lawyers, military....
He knows that Turkey cannot join the EU whilst North Cyprus is still occupied, but he refuses to talk peace. Throwing EU money at him to control migration through Turkey has been inflating his ego...
