, but if Tivo does the deleting to free up space, it deletes the oldest recording first. If my hard disc is getting full,
I want to choose which recordings to delete. If my Tivo stops recording because the disc is full, that's my fault and responsibility.

Nothing wrong with setting automatic delete as the default, but make sure that KUID option does exactly what it says it does. Richard is suggesting that the new software may have affected the KUID functionality.
I still think KUID should be an option in the Recording Default's Setting; an
option not the default. That would save people who like KUID having to go into every SL to change it.
