I've enjoyed the new Star Treks . The new cast are (IMO) just similar enough to the originals that they don't feel like new characters, but different enough that they don't feel like bad copies.
I also enjoyed the films. Yes, Star Trek was better than Into Darkness, and yes, both had plot points that had me groaning with how corny they were, but some of the original movies were better than others, and they also had plot points that were corny. Doesn't mean I didn't enjoy them.
I'm sorry for Anton's friends and family. This kind of loss is never easy. I can only hope his death was quick,as I suspect it would have been very painful.
