One solution would be to use the SH2 as a router, with the lan cables attached and in its original position. You could have wifi on or off. But also use a pair of powerline adapters so that you connect one lan cable from the SH2 to the powerline, and on the other end (upstairs?) connect from the powerline to your other router. Turn DHCP off on that and give it a fixed IP address on the SH2 and it will effectively be a separate router but on the same network as the SH2. Devices that attach through that router will be given addresses by the SH2.
