I think Virgin take the view that if they offered Now TV on the TiVo, people would cease their subscriptions to Sky through the cable packages they offer (and thereby make a profit) and instead would subscribe directly to Sky through the Now TV app, thereby missing out on that profit.
However. I choose to do both, as I suspect do most cable subscribers who get Now TV. So I think Virgin should go for it, and if they are concerned about people opting only for Now TV, Virgin could require that to access this app via the TiVo, you must be on the XL pack.
