I like streaming services; I guess I'm one of the people behind their growth using Amazon, Netflix and Now TV, and having a minimal pay TV service (M+).

The main downside is that a particular TV series is available on their service for a limited time. Longevity wise, Netflix, followed by Amazon are the best; Now TV is terrible, having box sets, in most cases, for a very limited time.

To be fair, there are very few TV shows that I want to add as a permanent fixture to my library; My DVD purchases have dropped drastically since Netflix launched in early 2012. Still, for the odd few that I do buy, I still think the 'to own' digital streaming prices are too high, and should decrease over time.

I have a feeling that at one time, the prices were set by the content rights holder for digital downloads, and they are the same price across all vendors. That is not the case with physical DVDs. I'm not sure if that was the case, and if it was, does it apply now?
