As usual, I reckon quite a lot of those who're tolerant of the problem don't have to live with it day in, day out. A former next door neighbour used to put all sorts of food out for 'local wildlife'. As a consequence we suffered from large numbers of rats, squirrels and a resident flock of feral pigeons who used our roof to perch on driving us made. Fortunately she eventually moved away and the problem disappeared with her.
