I'm going off what various folks have said about different UBR/CMTS's in use. Forgetting the 10 channel point, I'm still not convinced that 9 channels is anything other than a fault, albeit one that probably has zero impact. The channels are generally in even amounts - 8, 10, 12, 16, etc.
I've never seen 7, 11, 13, 15, etc. the only odd number I've seen (other than 1) is 9 and so far nobody has confirmed this is correct or not.
