Because, as I have said, several times, the
development cycle of a replacement PVR is at least five years. It is going to get slower as it gets older for newer apps that are added.
Streamer boxes are updated far more frequently, and therefore are a better tool for apps.
Also, they don't have the same demands on the processor as a PVR, which is doing several things at the same time.
Tivo still does apps, but anyone who expects it to be as quick with these apps as a streamer box, is failing to understand the difference between the two devices.
You can undo a nut with a pair of pliers, but it's nowhere near as good a way to do it as using the right size spanner.
