Got a continuous fast pulse on the send light of my modem even when the computer (a Mac) is shut down. (Only ready/synch and power should be on). Enet light also fast pulsing when computer is on.
The light is flashing because ARP requests are being sent to it from the CMTS (modem at VM's end).

Before you ask:
- This will not affect your connection at all.
- It is not a security risk.
- No it cannot be changed back.
- If you don't understand what ARP packets are, you don't need to understand. Ignore it.
- Yes, the LED is now useless to detect traffic.

The CMTS configuration has changed. So not a fault.

Most likely a new CMTS.

You can't change it. The change is at Virgin's end.

Thanks aygoman
You don't have a flakey modem. Changing your modem won't help.
If you ring 150 they probably won't understand and will give you some BS to get you off the line, or they will say it is supposed to flash.
