It literally just struck me, it's possible the reason Benitez is on his way to Newcastle as we speak to finalize the deal and McClaren is still in a job is because McClaren isn't being sacked completely, he's being relieved of his duty as First Team coach but will continue his role on the board of directors.
It kinda makes sense. He could still be sacked obviously but would you want to be at a club that's been actively speaking to Benitez to replace you?

This would be the biggest manager at Newcastle since the late Sir Bobby Robson. Are times changing, The money is there, the manager is there, the stadium is there so why can't we have nice things? I'd take 8th place finishes!
