Bound to be a utilisation fault after that many months. SNR faults generally get fixed in days or weeks. Utilisation faults can go on for years.

He could be on a different node and cable than you (you can find this out by hitting the "connection" button on the menu above and comparing the 'host' address for you and your friend), but both of you experiencing utilisation faults which are related to each other.
When one node/cable maxes out sometimes it starts affecting node/cables nearby.
Or you could both be on the same node and affected by the same fault. Or you could both have separate and independent faults.
