It can't go onto Freesat until it drops the FTV encryption. It started life as FTA, then had to scramble after joining the Sky platform. About 5 years ago Sky kicked them out, but curiously, instead of going back to FTA, they went FTV and have done ever since.

Maybe there are now rights issues, but that can be resolved these days by taking them off the Pan European beam, dropping the encryption and putting it on a UK Spot Beam transponder.

It would be a good addition to Freesat as I don't think it has any dedicated Sports channels.

We have not been given any info from our Virgin Media UK Sources that Motors TV UK is set to close on Virgin Media UK at time of posting.
You may well be right MB, since making that post, I've been told that Motors TV also transmits a distribution feed on the Eutelsat 9A satellite.

I can't imagine them staying on Astra just for Freesat though, it wouldn't be feasible to not be on the Sky EPG and miss the potential reach of most homes.

The only time I've ever known a channel to launch exclusively on Freesat was a film channel (can't remember it's name). This didn't last long and when they joined the Sky EPG, their viewers massively increased.
