Sky Q appears to be a very significant development, and because of that, my thinking would be, that if VM are planning a box with similar features (which we know they could do) then it would be sensible to announce it once Sky Q starts hitting users homes at the end of this month.

I guess VM will wait to see what the uptake of Sky Q is (it is a premium product after all) and see if VM starts seeing defections to Sky.

Sky Q is of great interest to people on forums such as this. But we are a tiny minority. The vast majority of Sky and VM users will probably not even know about, and care even less about, the technology of Sky Q; they are perfectly happy with their current box. So in reality, in the real world, there may be no rush at all for VM to announce a new box.

From my personal perspective, I'd like VM to launch a Sky Q equivalent box because that kind of technology appeals to me (and I don't like to see Sky with a better box than VM). But in reality, I don't need that functionality. The current Tivo caters for my needs.

And if VM aren't proposing to launch a Sky Q equivalent, well, that's a whole new ball game...
