Sky have been playing the long game for many years Harry hence why they are a powerhouse in UK pay TV. They regularly offer great deals to entice new customers and also to retain existing ones. They work on the basis that some profit is better than no profit and would rather keep customers at a lower rate than lose them altogether. They've since done similar offers in broadband so I'd see no reason as to why they wouldn't aggressively market mobile too.

VM have offered loyalty discounts in the past but nothing of the scale of the Sky ones. However VM's current bundle deals on the website and some of the guys posting on here about getting new customer deals through VM retentions seems to suggest they've finally twigged albeit a little late to the party.

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/10...l#post35822326 - guessing this is the reason for the change in tactic as the last round of TV price rises (for BT Sport Europe) seems to seriously hurt VM's TV product.

Be interesting to see what they do next to try and fight back.
