Yeah I missed you're running 32bit O/S (your CPU is 64bit), so only need half of what I recommended (I'm running 64-bit on 7). Also the recommended for Vista Premium is a lot lower at 1GB. So 3GB should be fine.

I turned off indexing, backups and Superfetch on Windows 7 (Superfetch was fine for a while and then went crazy).

Yeah, Flash is a constant memory leak, so glad that Youtube and others have moved to HTML5 video. HTML5 takes more CPU though.
Javascript is still a constant memory leak, due to architecture. Not much you can do there except avoid badly scripted sites.

At the end of the day it's whatever works for you.
