No I wouldn't have - and didn't. United were a totally different club back then, at best a 'cup' team without PL titles in their recent history, broadly comparable to Liverpool or Arsenal today.

The squad may not be the best but top players aren't going to want to come to a club where the manager is losing the dressing room.
