At least when United had bad spells in the past SAF was never in such complete denial. Pay attention to Van Gaal and you'd swear we were as strong as 1999 Champions League United.

Moyes was not and never could be the right man for United but at least he didn't insult the fans' intelligence by pretending we were on an upward curve. Yes United during the SAF era did win some games with luck but by the end of the season it was always the overall performance that won titles and trophies. You could still have belief in United.

Nowadays anyone fancies their chances against United, at OT too.

Van Gaal is in danger of destroying United more than Moyes did and maybe he already has, all that money spent and we're still not the the stronger team we ought to be. Given the quality of player United need right now who the hell would want to sign for us with him clearly unable or incapable of getting his "philosophy" to work?

#VanGaalOut - he's dangerously close to turning us in to Liverpool of the 90s.
You'd have been saying the same about Fergie in 87, he hasn't the experience for such a big job, hasn't won anything outside the Mickey mouse league and Mickey mouse European competition, is to arogant etc etc etc

The parallels between Liverpool are clear, millions wasted on sub standard players not fit to wear the shirt but is that the managers fault or the person buying them, utd's chief exec seems to be escaping a lot of criticism imo

Oh and I said van Gaal wasn't the right man for the job when he was appointed, this is the man who nearly got bayern relegated but he's there now and should be given till the end of season at least to sort it out
