Forecasts from the IMF, the economic watchdog, said 1.3 million people could flock to the Continent every year between 2015 and 2017.

That revised influx is bigger than the population of Berlin.

The warning came as EU chiefs were blasted for threatening to unleash tens of thousands of migrants on to Britain’s borders in Calais.

And it emerged Britain may be banned from deporting asylum seekers back to Europe, unless we take more refugees flooding into the EU.

Britain could be booted out of the Dublin Convention which allows countries to send asylum seekers back to their “first country of arrival”.

Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond admitted the Government was “very concerned” about the proposals.

And livid Eurosceptics said it proved Britain was powerless to control its own borders if it remains in the EU.
