Re: Alps avalanche hits school party

Quote:
Ninteen pupils and and their teacher were among skiers hit by the wall of snow on a closed ski run at Les Deux Alpes.

The group had been skiing on a black run yesterday in the resort that had be shut for saftey reasons.

Police said three children pulled from the snow suffered cardiopulmonary arrest - meaning their heart and breathing stopped - and are in a critical condition after being airlifted to hospital.

The teacher was found unconscious near the surface and was also evacuated by helicopter.
Linky

Anybody who's been skiing knows that they don't close runs for no reason.
