Thank you for the reply. Although having HD content upstairs would be nice it seems like its going to be quiet a mission to get the right kit etc. so lets just shelve that idea.

Actually, what I'll do is take the receiver downstairs tomorrow and try it out on my primary tv to see if it switches on/off. Unfortunately my video senders only have three channels so there is not much room in scope of trying less used channels this is mainly the reason why I asked about 5GHz senders whether it might offer me more channels to try and at a different frequency. I dont have a huge house and so in a straight line the signal would only have to go through the ceiling up through the floorboards to the tv. Are there other video senders that might over more than 3 channels? Just a thought but what about a Google Chromecast, could I not stream the content through my wifi network?
