I agree with your point about a wider support network but remember Sky already allows the same functionality on PlayStation and Xbox if you have either Sky Go Extra or Sky Multiroom so it's not too much of a stretch to imagine that cloud recordings could be viewed on 3rd party devices going forward. As always the challenge is getting content holders on board with this.
Could VM maybe allow non-customers to subscribe to a basic version of Anywhere for (say) £4.99/month.
