Actually cattle rearing is great use of very poor nutrient grasslands where other crops would be very expensive and difficult to grow, Ditto lamb, goat and others. Just producing the fertilisers would ruin most attempts, and most importantly the land itself.

The "bread basket" of northern India, for example is going to collapse dramatically in the not too distant future. And that will mean extreme famine for millions, many vegetarians. All due to excess use of artificial fertilisers.
