Re: Treat meat eaters like smokers, says shadow cabinet vegan

Oh, please. If our ancestors hadn't hunted for meat and fur as the last glaciation retreated, that prat wouldn't be here to raise the issue!

We are omnivores. There is no legislation or wishful thinking that can change that fact. A healthy diet should include meat - we are not rabbits!

On the other hand, fox hunting should still remain illegal. Hunting an animal when you're not going to eat it is wrong. It isn't"sport" to hunt something that can't fight or shoot back. The same applies to big game hunting. If you're going to hunt, do it because you're in a situation where you have no other choice, e.g. if you're stranded somewhere and you've nothing else to eat. Then it becomes a matter of simple survival and is therefore justified; the hunter is then essentially a predator doing what's necessary to live. Nothing wrong with that at all; no-one complains when a cheetah takes down one of those cute little antelopes.

But hunting for "sport" is vile.
