It depends what you want to do. If its your only TiVo then powerline adapters are the easiest to use. My second Tivo is connected to the network by wifi as the powerline adapters were to slow to allow streaming. It took a bit of fiddling to make streaming work. I had to connect both tivos to the same switch before there was a fast enough path to keep the tivos happy.

I agree with Stephen that Ethernet is the best way to go. Its simpler but in my case I avoided having to lay an unsightly cable and so upset the wife.
