AIUI the 30 days notice you are required to give is the
minimum notice required for penalty-free termination. It is not an
exactly 30 days or
maximum 30 days requirement so you should be able to provide notice at any point >= 30 days from the proposed date of termination, even on the first day of the contract if you so choose. Whether VM's IT systems can handle it is another matter.
