UPC has had Horizon WiFi throughout Europe for a while; Comcast, Cogeco Cable and others in North America. It is not a significant contributor to capacity issues. The WiFi signal is rarely that good.

People browsing / streaming on the WiFi service while their PS4 or whatever downloads at home doesn't really add to network load. They would be browsing / streaming at home, so they've just moved that usage to the WiFi.

The only time this would be excepted would be if the home download were entirely saturating the customer's bandwidth.

If VM chose they could also deprioritise the WiFi traffic in local areas so it only gets the left over bandwidth after home customers' flows have been served. If they experience issues this is an easy step.
