Never really had a problem with Virgin's installs. Their fault reporting can be a different matter (had a few occasions when I've had to report a fault and almost ended up in an argument when I had to try and persuade the guy on the other end that the fault was not in my equipment), but their installs have always been professionally done.

I think the problem with Sky is that, as you say, if a VM installer bodges and install (at least outside the house), it can mess up the connection for other people. A Sky installer can do what he wants, but there is no way on earth he can do anything that will affect anyone but the customer whose install he is working on, unless he manages to bodge the install so badly it takes out one of the transponders on the Astra satellite, in which case I can think of a few government agencies that might want to employ him.
