It'd help greatly to discover who are the bad apples if there wasn't so much closing of ranks going on. IMHO turning a blind eye to or deliberately helping to cover up wrongdoing are just as bad. Wrongdoing within the Lords might range from the most serious offences at one end of the spectrum to 'signing in' purely to claim expenses at the other with no intention to contribute anything to proceedings. Let's not tar all bad apples with the same brush, some bad apples are more rotten than others.
