It won't be anything to do with Virgin but instead it'll be a software problem. It would happen often on my old sony bluray player when the BBC updated their software and either accidently went incompatible with the sony and it would take a few days/week to be corrected by the BBC or a new sony firmware.

Eventually the Sony was taken off the compatible list and now doesn't work at all on iplayer but it was older than your panasonic TV
