They did win the Ford Sporting League once, paid for a whole new stand at the time but they are only the third team in my affections behind United and The Dale.
And they did stuff West Ham 6-0 in a cup semi whilst still in the old division 2.
In fact considering the Latics have spent most of the last 50 odd years in the lower divisions their record against West Ham is not that bad.
