That's what happened in Germany. The govt allowed employers to hire and (more importantly) fire, at will. That created more jobs and demand for workers.

Who signed us up to Europe in the first place and knew exactly what the grand plan and ramifications were all along. As usual if someone want to address an issue or look deeper at the 'facts' someone else will be along in moments to play party politics, might be why nothing ever gets done in this country.
With regard to pay we'll have to wait and see, I'm not to hopeful personally. The fact half the jobs have gone to immigrants means the pay will invariably be low or the bare minimum and the prevalence of zero hour contracts means it unlikely anyone can guarantee getting a living wage out of it.
