Nothing has changed in my house for a couple of years except the speed of the TiVo which is painfully slow & first time it is used each day my TV thinks it is switched off !!!

But it's easy to test if this is the cause. Try putting your left thumb over the IR receiver on the front on the TiVo (it's just to the left of the standby light), then control the TiVo menus using the buttons. Does it now go faster?
Just tried this & the answer is NO
