Now a painful thorn has been removed from their side, I dare say a good few bottles of fizz will be popped amongst the great and the good at the Beeb. Wonder if any of it will find it's way onto expenses...

It's ironic that JC was so instrumental in his own downfall but it certainly appears there was little room for manoeuvre.

I dare say the choice of his successor, if indeed there is one, will reveal a lot about the BBC hierarchy's feeling's about JC's outlook and humour. Are we going to get an equally irreverent personality or someone whose face fits? If there is a new series it'll be interesting to see how the viewing figures compare.
