There is no way that this assertion can be proven. There are many ways that e-mail can go missing, this is just one of them. So you might be on a wild goose chase, or you might have a genuine point. Mind you, if bigfoot really are operating open relays (or condoning the operation of open relays on their networks), then you should take your custom elsewhere. There are ways of running a mail forwarding service without the end-product looking like something sent through an open relay.
