True, I would expect all channels on Freeview to be on a TV service that I pay for.
Nothing further to report on TruTV coming to VM. It was all set to go and then for some unknown reason VM refused to carry it. I do know that they weren't happy with the channel owners for advertising inclusion on VM cable (complete with EPG number) before any carriage deal was formally signed.

True, but things have changed. There are less and less people watching music channels and Viacom need VM more than VM need Viacom.
It would even be in Viacom's interest to let VM have the missing channels for virtually nothing in order to bolster the serious decline in viewers (and consequent advertising revenue).
Over the last year Viacom have been signing distribution deals and started streaming some of their output.
